The Boom Card hype is real, people! I’ve spent the last eight weeks of quarantine learning about Boom Cards, creating decks for my students and swooning over everything these digital task cards have to offer. An educational tool that’s self-graded, engaging and requires no prep? YES, PLEASE!

Boom Cards

What are Boom Cards?

Boom Cards are interactive, self-checking, digital task cards.

• There are multiple-choice questions, drag and drop, fill in the blank and more!

They require NO printing, cutting or laminating.

Students think they’re a game!

• There are decks available for ALL grades and subject areas.

You can track student progress and collect data with a paid membership. (See membership plan chart below)

Boom Cards can be purchased and downloaded on Teachers Pay Teachers, as well as the Boom Learning website.

I love that students are given IMMEDIATE feedback if they get an answer incorrect.

How do I use Boom Cards?

• You must be connected to the internet to use them.

• You can play them on a smartboard or computer with modern browsers such as Safari, Chrome and Firefox. You can also download the Boom Card app and play on iPads, iPhones, Androids and Kindle Fires.

You will be asked to sign in to your account or create a free Boom Learning account.

• Once you are logged in, you can purchase and assign different decks to your students. There are lots of great FREE decks as well!

• After you purchase a set of cards, they will automatically be stored in your library.

• If you want to collect data about student accuracy and rate, students must log in with a username and password. Click here to learn more about how to set up your classroom and view student reports.

• If you want to play a deck as a whole group using a smart board or send out a link to SeeSaw or Google Classroom – go to your library, select a deck and click Fast Pin. You’ll be provided with a link you can copy and paste anywhere to play! However, this will not collect student data. Fast Play is available with ANY membership plan.

CVC Boom Card Resource

I’m using this Short Vowel CVC Boom Card Bundle resource with my students for distance learning, and it’s been amazing! I also plan to incorporate these into literacy centers when school resumes in the fall.
